OUR METHODOLOGY

The primary focus of Alpha Natural Inc. in its vision and methodology, is to improve soil structure and the well being of soil dwelling life forms. The entire approach of lasting plant health, plant food value enhancement, and pollution remediation centers around healthy, multiplying and diverse microscopic soil life forms living within a sustainable soil structure.

Soil remediation begins by using Carbon Based Fertilizers and Soil Amendments which nourish microbes as well as plants, resulting in holistically improved soil health. Healthy soils are able to return clays and organic debris to the soil as composted humus. Likewise, minerals, long tied up by salts or others factors are released and changed into a form which plants can use. This encourages better air and gas exchange. As soils change, so do the plants which live upon them. Plants which are more nutritious and sweeter mean more animal feeds and less noxious weeds. Glyconutrient sugars, such as mannose, glucose, fucose, glucosamine and polysaccharide chondroitin, to name but a few, begin to accumulate in plants grown in healthy soils. As soils become fortified they naturally loosen, allowing more air exchange with sub-soils which provides for greater water-holding capacity and less plant stress from hot summer or cold winter days.

Seeking to improve soil dynamics and thus improvement, maintenance, survival, health & propagation of plants was the driving interest behind the founding and development of Alpha Natural, Inc. It is unfortunate, that manufacturers of synthetic, chemical based herbicides and pesticides have successfully convinced a majority of consumers that the application of these toxic materials actually works to correct weed and/or pest infestation. What is less widely known is that many of these compounds often do not work to deter the specifically targeted pests. When these toxins are applied and the targeted pest is not eliminated, the pest begins to develop a resistance to the toxins. This results in a dependency upon harsher and harsher chemical compounds in an attempt to correct the infestation. Non-targeted species typically suffer from such applications and can become unintended casualties.

Because of the use and overuse of chemical-based fertilizers and weed and pest controls, we observe over time that the areas we now live in lose the resemblance to the areas we were once drawn to. Most noticeable is the loss of mammal and bird life. This is due to the food chain being broken by the toxic brew which covers and has infiltrated our lands. Under these conditions, feed plants become replaced by alkaloid plants which have limited feed values; chronic wasting disease becomes a survivability factor for our deer and elk: and, ground water contamination becomes common-place. Soils, which once produced surpluses, then become producers of dominant weeds. Compounding the situation, livestock manures lay on the land and do not as readily break down and recycle. The entire, persistent problem is tied together by landscape chemical dependency which could largely be avoided by implementing balanced land management practices together with natural, carbon-based fertilizers and soil ammendments.

To sum it up, by supplying nutritional needs to the Infinite array of microbial and fungi soil-dwelling life forms, we can better enable soil’s naturally regenerative capabilities. Locked-up mineral complexes, organic debris, solar dust, atmospheric pollutants and pestilent insect eggs contained within the top soil, are composted and digested by healthy, aggressive microbes and fungi, which then release beneficial resources needed to grow healthier plants. The benefits of trillions of multiplying microbial colonies are easily four-fold: The establishment of safer, healthier soils not only enables the land to better retain more precious water resource; it also discourages rhizome spreading, rooted plants; stabilizes the process of soil heating and cooling, resulting in cooler summer and warmer winter soil temperatures; and, reduces maintenance costs, freeing funds for other projects.

Alpha Natural, Inc. is committed to principals of good stewardship by returning natural sustainability to the land—a challenging, but, I believe, inherent and attainable goal made possible through education initiatives and the continued development and use of natural land management products and practices.
